To say that I am obsessed with Love Island wouldn’t do it justice; I LOVE Love Island, and I love love. After reading the synopsis for The Compound, I instantly felt a Love Island vibe and downloaded it immediately to read.

The Compound by Aisling Rawle takes place in a mansion-like compound in the desert where contestants wake up in random spots in the house and are forced to find each other and repair their home. Throughout their journey, there are challenges, there is love, there is betrayal, and there is mystery. Through group and individual tasks, the contestants create a beautiful home, but will it stay like that forever? And what happens when you win?

Did it give Love Island vibes? Yes

Was it amazing, spectacular? No

The first half of the book felt fast-paced. I wanted to know everything about everyone, but I also wanted to know why this show even exists. What’s going on in the world where people seek out to be on this show? Why is it better to stay than leave? It’s definitely an intriguing concept. Do we ever truly find out what’s going on? No. And that is why I gave it 3.75 stars.

It was an enjoyable read; however, I wanted more from everything. I wanted to know more about the world outside and more about what happens after you win and leave the compound. I felt it ended abruptly and left me going huh but but why.

Would I recommend this book? Yes

It’s a fun and fast read that gives slop TV vibes.
